Wishing Everyone a Happy 2017 Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving was incredible!  We had the greatest time again this year.  Justin and Jeff's families came as well as cousin Doug and Uncle Doug so we had a pretty big group of 22 people for dinner.

We hosted at our home again because Dave needed to be close to work to see his diabetic patients that live close by.  Everyone loved the day and were generous with their compliments on the decorations, dinner, games, and just fun!

Dave cooked the turkey outside (since I didn't want the smell of a fast-food restaurant in the house).  Alyssa was my helper and was just darling!  Jaxson, Austin, and Taylor made the turkey cups for the kids.  They were a hit.  We also pulled out our Thanksgiving props to use for pictures.  These were also a hit.

After a fabulous dinner, we played with Doug's drone, went hot tubbing, and played some fun games in the kitchen.

We are grateful for our family, our health, our country, and our Savior who has given us so much.  Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

A few of Austin's 6th Grade Experiences

Our Austin is sure growing up quickly!  He is in 6th grade and is experiencing so many things in 6th grade.  We were extremely fortunate to get the best 6th grade teacher for him.  Ms. Kitchen has magical powers!  She can reach students in very special, specific ways.  I was able to find coverage for 30 minutes and run to see Austin in his mythology play where he was the narrator.

Austin is also a HUGE football fan!  We enjoyed watching several LPHS games, BYU games, and Carter's championship game this year.  So fun for our boy!

Las Vegas Conference for Jody

The view from my hotel room in Las Vegas!
When I interviewed for the Lone Peak High School teaching job last year, one of the key factors that lured me to leave the wonderful junior high where I had taught for 21 years for Lone Peak was when the assistant principal told me he felt LPHS could use me in leadership positions in teaching.  At the end of last year, the administration asked me to be on their Professional Development team for the school.  I was super flattered and excited to learn more.
We attended a conference in Las Vegas at Caesar's Palace.  I learned so much, laughed a ton with my colleagues, stayed in a suite off the strip, and missed my family back home like crazy!  I am excited to share with the faculty the things I learned at this conference to help our students become the best they can be!

Jaxson & Austin LIGHT UP the house!

A major milestone was made this year in our home:  CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!  And they were hung by our wonderful sons!  In fact, one of the men hanging lights at our neighbors' house was watching Jaxson hang the lights and came over to inspect the job....and was SUPER IMPRESSED!  In fact, he was so impressed that when Dave stopped to talk to him 30 minutes later, he told Dave he would hire Jaxson in a heart beat!  We are proud of both of our boys and especially for the big guy (Dave) for learning how to splice the lights together to make them look professionally done!

Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner

Dave was talking one day with this mom about Thanksgiving and felt that she was a little sad that her family wouldn't be together.  He told her we should do an early Thanksgiving and that we would host it.  The kids and I were pretty excited since it was the first time in the history of being in the family that we were allowed to host a major family event (outside of baby blessings, birthdays, baptisms)!  We worked hard to make it special for Grandma and our cousins....and it turned out to be a lovely evening!  We bought a new table cloth and runner so the table looked just beautiful.  Cindy and Carson bailed last minute as did Brittney and Brandon so the entire family wasn't quite there, but we really did enjoy a lovely evening with those who came!

Dave fried the turkey and it was pretty good.  The kids and I spent an hour making our traditional turkey cups for the grandkids with special words that made us think of each person.

The food was yummy and the company was good.  Happy Thanksgiving, Lindsay Family!
