Yolanda's Birthday and a torn MCL an hour later

We celebrated Yolanda's birthday...well, some of us did.  Austin was at home finishing up some homework, Taylor was sick, Jaxson wasn't well, so it was just Dave, Alyssa, and I.  After 50 minutes, I went home, passed off on Austin's homework, and he begged me to run over to the DuJardins for 20 minutes.  Begrudgingly I let him go.  BIG MISTAKE!  About 30 minutes later, I called Dave to have the kids come home because it was a school night.  Dave said they needed to clean up and then they would come home.
Like pretty much always, I heard bawling when the kids came through the door.  Alyssa couldn't walk and Dave was mad.  She and Austin had been playing "football" while cleaning up.  He wrapped his arms around her feet, she fell one way and Austin fell the other.  She heard 3 pops in her knee.

The next day, Dave took her to the doctor's office where they sent her to get a MRI.  We learned she had a torn MCL and needed to meet with a specialist.  A few days later, we met with Dr. Madchen and learned that the tear was deep but Alyssa was lucky that it wasn't a complete tear.  He ordered physical therapy, no more sports etc for 6 weeks.  Our winter plans were immediately altered.  Another challenge to overcome!

2018 LPHS Preference

Taylor and JD had the greatest night together at Preference 2018 at Lone Peak High School!  We hosted a Raclette dinner after the kids went bowling.  Taylor had the greatest night with her darling date!

The 2018 Las Vegas Cup!

We ditched our jobs and school the Friday before Human Rights Day and left for Las Vegas for a soccer tournament for Austin.  It was a great get away for our family.  We stayed at the Grandview Hotel and Condos on the far south side of Vegas so it was nice not to be part of the casinos.  Austin played 3 soccer games in less than 24 hours so he was pretty tired by the end of the third game.  We played teams from California and Texas so that was fun for us.  One highlight of our trip, other than watching Austin play, was seeing Brandon and Charlotte and their family.  At least a few of our kids stayed with them each night we were in Vegas.  On Saturday night, Brandon, Charlotte, Dave, and I went out to dinner at a super nice restaurant called "Texas de Brazil" where we had a variety of killer Brazilian meat and other foods.  Another highlight was spending an hour or more at the Las Vegas temple.  We read out of the Book of Mormon together on the grass (which embarrassed some of the kids as others walked around the temple).  The temple grounds were incredible.  It was a special experience to have our family there and dream
On our way home, we stopped in Cedar City to see the temple there.
It was wonderful to spend time together as a family!  I just love my little family so much and enjoy the moments we have as our children grow.
