Alyssa- our soccer star!
Alyssa is an amazing athlete! She really is! Whether she is playing goalie or playing forward, she is strong, determined, and gets the job down! Go Purple Poison!
The nicest surprise ever!
A few years ago in class, one of my new, awesome LPHS German 2 students made the connection that I had taught his cousin, AJ, when he was in junior high years ago. Fast forward to this past Monday. The class came in, the bell rang, and I started class. A few minutes into class, a student stood up from his desk on the front row and said, "Well, I had better say something or this will take all day." Where Tyler should have been sitting was 20 year old AJ! We hugged and I was so giddy with joy! AJ is leaving next week on his mission. He waited at my desk while I taught...for about 45 minutes before I had a break where the students were doing partner work.... and then we got to chat for a minute. When he left, I realized how inspired I was with his life and choices. I love my profession and the opportunity it gives me to follow these awesome students throughout their lives.
BYU Football Kicks Off!
I love BYU football. I think my parents sang the Cougar fight song to me as an infant. I can still name football players from the 80s. ;) Cousin Doug and his family and Jeff & Nicole came over for a BBQ and the Utah/BYU game. Jeff bought Austin a new BYU football for the game. Austin whispered to me later that he loves all of his uncles but Jeff is #1. LOL!
We surprised Dave with season tickets this year. We had our season opener. It was a lot of fun. We loved our date night, especially since it has been challenging to get consistent date nights in with our busy schedules.

Lindsay Family Fun
Labor Day weekend was spent at 7 Peaks and with the Lindsay family. Carson ended up coming into town so we invited him to come with us. He didn't have a swimming suit so we ran to Walmart. The boys were in such a hurry that they didn't check the size of the suit. What a surprise we had when we arrived at 7 Peaks!
On Monday, the kids spent the afternoon at Connie's playing soccer while Dave visited with his family and I ran errands. It is hard to be working full-time and get the things done that need to be done. Anyway, in the evening, I joined everyone for an hour of hot tubbing and eating at Ken's new outdoor kitchen. Beautiful!

LPHS Knights: this is OUR Kingdom!
I am not going to lie. I am LOVING my new teaching assignment. The school has an energy, an excitement about it that I have never experienced before. The principal, Rhonda Bromley, is one of the most incredible leaders---if not the most incredible leader--- I have ever worked with! She has vision and passion unlike anything I have experienced in my 23 years in education.
Speaking of Rhonda; when we went to the opening social, she got talking to Austin and promised to give him some shirts. I can't believe she remembered but one day, 4 shirts were delivered to my classroom. I took them home and everyone, including Dave, spoke for a shirt! LOL! Dave is hilarious.
Homecoming was a blast! The spirit bowl was the loudest event I have ever attended. My A2 class (and I) was part of the gold team and we ended up taking the grand prize. We wrapped up the week with a tailgating party before the game for kids. What a great week!
