The kindest gift from the best ward on the planet

I have said for years that I live in the greatest neighborhood in the world. We have friends who are our third family, great traditions with several people on our street and simply lots and lots of laughs and together moments.

But have I ever mentioned that we all belong to the same ward? And that our ward is incredible, too?

Our buddy, Dana, approached both Dave and me a few weeks ago and said he wanted to come into our garage and use it as a service project/teaching opportunity for the Elders Quorm in our ward. Dana is known for his ability to organize and tell people what to do! :) The perfect person to head up this project.

The result: incredible!

Here are some of the BEFORE pictures:

The men came over on a Tuesday night and began to work!

All of our junk on the car port area:

Dave was over-joyed by this kind gesture
And the garage started to shape up!

Look! I can park my suburban in the garage now!

Nice shelving EVERYWHERE!

Dana measured how high our water storage containers were and built the new shelving so they would fit under them.

THE FINAL RESULT:

Dana built the kids a bench with 10 cubbies for their shoes, backpacks and whatever we want to use it for!

Our skiis, snowboard and Dave's little touch with the license plate....

This project took 3 nights' work for about 10 men per night. We are overjoyed and overwhelmed with gratitude for this kind project for us. I kept saying to Dana, "We don't need this nor do we deserve it." Dana kept saying, "Let us do something nice for you and Dave."

Next on Dave and my list for the summer: paint the wall and finish the flooring!
Love our ward. Love our neighborhood. Love our Dana!

Happy Thanksgiving 2011!

Thanksgiving Day was awesome. We stayed in Utah and celebrated the day at Dave's parents' home in Lehi. The table was set beautifully (as always)!

Tradition! Annual Lunch for Girls from 1988!

I had a small graduating class from high school by any standard: there were 14 of us! :) Seven of the 8 girls have this fun tradition to get together each November for lunch or a night at a condo to catch up on our lives. I love it. I really, really love it! And I love these girls. They were super influences in my life throughout elementary, junior high and high school.

I Am Thankful For......

On November 1st, I hung this piece of paper up on our front door with the words, "I am thankful for...." so we could focus on gratitude. Here are some of my favorite things recorded throughout the month:

Tackling Dog (aka Austin) had the most grand time in Kindergarten during the Thanksgiving Season!

Fall Family Pictures

I think it is so important to capture a family in picture over the years. Unfortunately, I haven't always made it my first priority because I felt huge and pregnant for so many of those years. I have repented of my ways and now make it a top priority to have an annual family picture.

We hired our neighbor and friend, Kim Boldt, to photograph our family. She was patient, creative and simply fantastic!

Alyssa wasn't in the best mood so Kim shared her sunglasses with the baby....

Dave and his girls
So, Dave wanted some pictures with him and the girls. It took a bit to get Alyssa to smile but the final picture was worth it!

Almost there.....(look at baby girl's thighs!)

....and here it is!

Dave and his sons
I love pictures with the men in my life! I also like standing pictures to measure the kids' growth in the years to come in comparison to their daddy!

Jody and the Kiddos!
I predict that by the time Alyssa is 13 years old, they will ALL tower over me!
