Alyssa's Surgery to Fix her Dislocated Kneecap

Alyssa ended up to be one of the first surgical patients at the new Saratoga Springs Surgical Center on the morning of the 28th. She was pretty nervous but ended up being a a rockstar as a patient. She sat through a nerve block and then told the doctor she was certain the anesthesia wouldn't put her under. They told her the drugs always win.

For the next 48 hours, we awoke every 2 hours for pain pills and slept intermittently. Alyssa took over out bed so it felt like 2009 all over again. Dave was so great to take care of us while he was still sick.

Merry Christmas 2024!!!!

Although we were sick, we enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Day together! The kids loved their gifts, we slept, we ate Ebelskivers and eggs for breakfast and our traditional cheese, meat, and chocolate fondue dinner in the evening.

Christmas Eve 2023

Christmas Eve 2023 at Grandma's House
Note: Meredith as bonus mom! Dave and Jody Missing

On Sunday, the morning of December 24th, I pulled my foggy brain out of bed to accompany a cute, young Seminary teacher, Kramer, singing O Holy Night in another ward. Although he sang beautifully, I didn't feel good about my accompaniment. My brain had a fogginess that was just so horrible, I couldn't process correctly. I went straight home and into bed. Dave was running a high, high fever that we couldn't break until the early evening. He called his mom and told her we weren't coming.
We sent the kids to Christmas Eve without us as we stayed home and talked about the family gift we had planned for the family---a 2024 trip to Hawaii! It was actually nice to have a little time together.  Meredith went as the bonus mom. She said she feels quite comfortable with everyone in the Lindsay family so it didn't feel awkward without us there. She left early and came to spend time with me, across the room of course!
The kids came home and said the party was nice but weird without us there. We sat together, sang together, read Luke together, and prayed together. We love our children so much. There is so much to be grateful for.

Sickness Hits the Lindsay Home Days Before Christmas 2023

On December 20th, I was at work. Around noon, I started to feel kind of gross. I still had a lunch with my Spanish 1 team at 2:30pm so I thought I must just be so tired that I was feeling sickly. About an hour later, I felt illness coming on strong. I quickly drove home and within 30 minutes, I was fevered and shaking under my blankets. What I didn't know that it would be day 1 of 8 when it was said and done. I was flat on my back for 4 days. Dave came down with it all too on Dec 23rd and what we didn't know was that he would be out for about 11 days. Taylor caught it as well but we got her on Tame-flu so she was only down for 5 days. We would end up missing Christmas Eve. We had to cancel Caroling at the Lindsays with the Hults and DuJardins. We barely cooked and ate. Wow- what a crazy holiday season!
