BYU's GIRLDAD Sunday in the Marriott Center

We dashed home early from Teage's baptism in Idaho so I could accompany theee Kramer Morton at the 2026 BYU Girl Dad camp’s sacrament meeting in the Marriott Center.
Message 1: Be Still, My Soul (In You I Rest) 🎶
Message 2: Through every season of life, we can trust that our Heavenly Father knows us perfectly, loves us unconditionally, and will always bless us.

Celebrating Teage's Baptism

I am so grateful for family.
It was an easy YES to drive to Idaho to attend Teage's baptism. Brandon and his family were there, a rare opportunity to spend time with him and his family.

Teage's baptism was incredible. Both grandmothers gave the talks, I led the music, but I will never, ever forget watching Brantly's family stand and sing a song with Teage as a soloist and the rest of the kids singing the chorus each time with him. Just precious. So, so precious.

After lunch at the pavilion, we decided to take the more scenic path home through Grace, Preston, and Logan. Jeff and Brandon convinced us to go to Charlie's for the best ice cream in Logan. We ended up staying for an hour, talking, laughing, and playing with Anaïs who is the most delightful baby ever born.

I had the absolute thrill of being surrounded by dozens of Utah ASL teachers at their summer professional learning conference. The energy, expertise, creativity, and genuine commitment to students in that room were incredible.

As President of the Utah Foreign Language Association, I am continually reminded that our language educators are doing far more than teaching a language. They are creating opportunities for students to communicate, connect, and demonstrate what they can actually do.

And in my new role with Language Testing International, I find myself looking at assessment through an even deeper educator lens.

Best-practice assessment isn't just about a score.

The best assessments give students an opportunity to show what they can actually do—not simply what they can remember. They give teachers meaningful information. They help programs demonstrate impact. They can validate learning, inform teaching, motivate students, and open doors.

That matters deeply to me because I have spent my career watching what happens when students realize, “I can actually do this.”

Utah ASL teachers, thank you for letting me be a small part of your day. Your commitment to students is inspiring.
