Soccer Stop in Las Vegas on our Way to LA

When the Hatch Family Cruise mixes with a Las Vegas Celtic GA soccer weekend, you can expect that things might get crazy!

And they did.

Original Plans.  We planned for Connie to drive down with Jaxson, Austin, and Alyssa. Dave and I both had meetings and work late on Thursday, January 19th, so there were no way we would have time to drive to Las Vegas.  Plus, we needed to be in LA the morning of Jan 21st to board our cruise.  I found last minute deals on flights out of Provo on the 19th so we bought those thinking our luggage would be driven down with the kids.

Part 2: Sid's mom, Heather, called and asked if Alyssa could stay with them in Las Vegas at the Cosmopolitan to celebrate Sid's 14th birthday! Heather said she would be happy to drive Alyssa down to Vegas and back. When we realized we could save a ton of money on gas, airbnbs, food, entertainment, etc, we quickly added 1 large suitcase to each of our Alligiant flights ($60 each) to take our own luggage.  Still cheaper!

What Really Happened: When we arrived at the airport at 7:50pm for our 9pm flight, I jumped for joy when I realized my bag was under 50 lbs. The lady at the desk told me the 50lbs maximun is for Delta; Allegiant's maximum was 40 lbs and we owed another $50 per bag. Urggg- I hate stuff like that!

When we arrived in Las Vegas, the car rental place upgraded our ride for free so we got a BMW.  So slick- Dave loved it! Jaxson- so jealous!

Foodies in Vegas. My colleague, Kyle, loves food. Like he does research on places to eat prior to traveling. He gave me suggestions for Las Vegas so when drove out of the car rental, we drove straight to Fuku Burgers in China Town where we ate some of the yummiest Korean-style burgers and fries we had ever had.  It was the beginning of our "foodie" 24 hours of all of Kyle's delicious recommendations.

Westgate Flamingo Las Vegas. WOW! Quiet, elegant, and cozy. We were able to get up and work in comfort. Dave had tons of patients to see and I had 8 hours of work with my job too so Friday was filled with work.  Because of the great location of the Westgate Flamingo, we were able to dash quickly to Brooklyn's Best for the most delicious pizza and strombolis for lunch and then to my favorite: Sweet Mong, for exquisite Thai shaved ice with fresh mango and pop rockets. We couldn't believe how delicious it was!

Celtic Soccer.  It was freezing and windy--again! Gratefully, I had grabbed the extra packaged blanket at the condo. We wrapped up in it and endured a great soccer game with a win at the end. We said goodbye to Alyssa and had our last meal in China Town at an authentic place before heading to bed for an early wake up to catch our flight to LA. What a wonderful 24 hours we had in Las Vegas!
