Labor Day Weekend: a new Yukon, Trip to Vegas, Baptism, and Mesquite

Good-bye Suburban.  We have loved you.  You have been dependable but it's time to get a ride that is bit newer and even more reliable.

Alyssa was sad and wanted a picture with our suburban.  I don't have a picture of the GMC Yukon but let's just saw we love our new ride.  It is a 2007 with lots of comfort.

LAS VEGAS
We work up at 5:30am and we were driving down I-15 by 6:00am.  I even opened the sunroof on the Yukon, not because we wanted to be cook, but because the boys' feet were so stinky, we couldn't breathe!  We ended up stopping in Fillmore for a feet washing from each of the sons.  Thankfully.

When we arrived in Vegas, Brandon had a concerned look on his face. Most of his kids were sick with fevers and throwing up.  Since everybody had come from out of town, he and Charlotte were in a bind about going through with the baptism. They decided to, but not without a bowl.  I held little Brevan throughout the service.  It was like holding a live, burning furnace.  Poor baby was so fevered and sick.  Our Sydney was so sick, she couldn't hardly smile.  But the service was wonderful and special for the twins.

When Dave learned how sick the family was, he told us to leave for home.  He found a nice hotel in Mesquite for us to stay in so we went.  There was a beautiful pool and hot tub that we enjoyed.  So even though we spent a lot of time on the road, we were spoiled with a little mini vacation.

2 Concussions in 3 days = no sports for a season

Telling Austin he can't play sports, run, jump, catch balls etc is like telling a swimmer he can't come up for air.

And we had to do it.

After 2 concussions in 3 days (one from falling on his head during soccer practice and the 2nd felling on a money bar after his legs were kicked out from under him), Austin was put on the bench from everything physical for 2 months.  No exceptions.  No recess. No running.  He has been a great sport about it, but the reality of what it means for him hasn't been very fun day in and day out.  But we want our boy to be okay in his adult life, so we are enforcing this on our end the best we can do!

100 Year Celebration for Alpine School District

A few days before the 15-16 school year kicked off, all of the ASD employees met at McDee at UVU for a celebration that was so special.  I arrived wishing a little bit that I could work in my classroom; I left beaming with pride in my career choice with a feeling of unity in excellence with my colleagues. I truly work with some of the finest people one can meet.  They are dedicated to student learning and genuinely love kids.  I am inspired.

Happy 80th Birthday to our Poppie!

We love our poppie!  He is a giant of a man with a heart that is even bigger!  We congregated over at mom and dad's house with almost everyone in the Lindsayfamily to celebrate his life and more to come!  We were the first ones to arrive so I got some wonderful pictures outside of our family with the birthday boy and Grandma Barbie

Food Trucks, Selfies, and TIMBER!

Our little city has a new tradition that we have participated in a few times: the food truck rally! We enjoyed some yummy variety of foods for dinner.

SELFIES
I constantly find little gems on my camera roll on my phone.  Here are a couple of my girls that make me smile!

TIMBER!
We are sick of the poplars in our backyard, not because of the trees, but because of the horrible, thick shoots that keep springing up throughout our yard and flower beds.  So we did something about it.  Each of our neighbors helped us take down one of the big granddad trees!
