2017 Europe Trip- Day 4: Dachau, Tour of Munich

Our morning began with a yummy German-style breakfast!  Dave is all about the breakfasts in Germany.  He LOVES them!  I do too.  We traveled to Dachau, the first prototype work camp and eventually concentration camp for Hitler.  There was a somber, almost sacred feeling as we arrived.  Dave took the larger group with our tour guide to view the movie and I took the children 14 years and younger for their own tour of Dachau.  We ended up having great conversations about our freedoms and I taught the children about the things that happened in the camps without going into too much detail.
Afterward, we drove to down-town Munich for lunch and shopping. I was able to introduce our group to the Turkish Döner Kabap, a fast-food meal of chicken, veggies, and a yummy sauce on a Turkish flatbread.  It was a huge hit for the Americans!  We shopped, went into churches, and enjoyed the downtown area before meeting at 2:00 for our guided tour of Munich.  Each bus had their own tour guide for the next two hours as we drove around and saw the sights of Munich.  We stopped at the BMW museum where Austin and Jaxson got to sit in the nice cars and even ride in one.  We went to Schloß Nymphenburg, a palace that stretches so wide, you can't even get a picture of the entire building.  We finished our tour in downtown Munich (again) at the Rathaus on Marienplatz where we watched the Glockenspiel.  Dinner was delicious!  A chicken/rice dish with yummy ice cream.  What a wonderful day!
